MALE TRENDS A blog about men’s fashion, lifestyle & more.

Okay so…there are suited flower boys in the West. Who knew? Though where besides a suit ad you could find this particular line-up of pretties I’m not sure.
I like the matching ties, and suits, showing off the ways to wear them without needing to change them. Buttoned-up or tie loosened—the uniform fantasy of looking well without looking identical.

New rom-com with Lee Min-Ki coming out!

Which of course will not be available illegally online for another year or so after it does come out, but whatever.

The story is of a couple who work together, so they have this secret forbidden romance thing going on to keep the spark alive, but they also seem to try and keep things exciting by constantly breaking up and getting back together.

Of course, this means office dress, though they look like common office-workers, so no chaebol extravagance of three-piece suits. Looks like a casual tone, since the emotions will be intense. Also, the co-stars are practically anagrams: Lee Min-Ki and Kim Min-Hee. DESTINY.

I was like, “ooh hot one asianmeninsuits” and then I was like, “wait, who is this? REALLY?”
Because Yonghwa can sometimes pull off the chilly look, but it’s not really his operative style. Slightly sinister and smoldering?
I~nteresting transformation there. The eye-makeup is great to draw that out, in counterpoint with the old fashioned uniform look. Lovely, really.

Marilyn Monroe in Korea , 1954

This cutie is taking K-Pop and K-Drama by storm, and for good reason.

He’s able to play along with whatever you hand him. I mean, suitcases tumbling out plastic arms? Security footballs? Tiaras and argent confetti?

The ridiculousness never lies with him, though. And the dark plaids that I would not seek out being used here are interesting—they make me wonder if this is a retrospective or inspired by bad uniform color choices…

This uniform is missing some of the usual instant cool—no black (at least not in this conformation) but with a plaid tie picking up the other red accents, and a neat, small cabling on the sweater vest, it’s worth drooling over when deciding on your high school…
Not that I know anyone who chose schools on those criteria.
This seems to be a still from a drama, and it looks pretty promising, from this snapshot…not that I actually choose dramas based on that criteria, either. :cough:
The particular way school uniforms are worn casually by students is probably half the reason I still read shojo manga. It’s definitely a canvas against which different mixes of rebellion, style, peer expectations and society play.
Also, sleeves are NEVER worn straight.
Patches. Is there nothing they cannot add a little zing to? A smart vest with a uniform-like shape, deconstructed into fashion. The belt being so utilitarian is nice, as is the kind of dressy watch.
The tattoo is pretty fine, too, actually…

BoA is a great fashion icon, primarily because she shows how to wear anything in your own way. This video involves the idea of doppelgangers, and alter-egos, so there’s some fun with totally separate styles. But BoA’s got a fierce, clear style, and it comes across in each.

The fantasy princess dress has kind of quirky cut-outs and an unexpected big floral pattern in such a setting, that’s stylish. Her dancer outfit shows skin through veils and more cut-outs. The tailored look of the combination is simulated by layering (vest, with drape, over the sheer shirt, over a bikini top). Last is an at-home casual tee and cut-off shorts that still manage to have a chic outline.

The way she combines elements, with her sporty dance style and music, has that elusive “signature” look. She is the one and only of her kind.

A kind of breezier look, with soft long-sleeve tees and loose overshirts. Still has a sort of classic outline, though, a quiet sense of taste.

I am the most fond of the leather-bodied hoodie. Why haven’t I seen that anywhere else? Such a great idea…

A kind of cocky statement—a jacket with Napoleon swagger with nothing but a touch of bling underneath—but that’s appropriate for a hiphop artist.
The hat has a kind of circus glitz to it that makes it look like a costume. And that also looks cool, on the whole.
This has got that indefinable something about it that makes me just love the photograph, when it’s not my usual thing.

Goodness, where is my fan?
The knotwork of the embellishments alone are beautiful—the wonderful fit and glossy boots finish it off.
Oh, and sword! Ask and ye shall receive…

I don’t often reblog fantasy costumes, but when I do…
it’s because my jaw’s dropped at how fantastic they look. The buttons! I’m particularly fond of the totally unnecessary ones toward the collar, outlining the neckcloth’s contours. That’s some dandy sugar there.
The coat is also gorgeous, the fur collar just enough framing to make the handsome head seem regal, without needing other trappings. Of course, the sword kind of screams “some kind of royalty or heir of the gods” but dude. Pretty swords. Could use more of those in these suit-ops!
…do you guys wanna see Fassbender with a foil and as little fencing clothes as possible? Because that was a fi~ne fashion shoot W Mag did.

Commissioned book( “The Shadow of Black Wings” By Pradera ) cover.

The two top photos are from a suit-shoot with Jo Jung-Suk, currently in King 2Hearts, but of course…I fell for his drama headshot.

That drama had the proper kind of fun with world-building through costuming. It’s on my “maybe later” list for watching, but what a hot uniform…

The predominance of white with touches of gold, over black is so regal. Someone had fun drawing this out, let loose on an elaborate royal uniform concept. The buttons! The shoulder-boards!

So, that photo of Oguri Shun and the chair I fell in love with? I found another from the same shoot. It makes a lot more sense now.
HOT DIGGITY, those saddle-shoes, Narimiya! You are the most head-tiltingly unexpected fashionista I have ever encountered. But I LOVE that black and white argyle threaded with red. Though I would prefer it on a tie.
Instead, he’s gone all son-of-tycoons white on white for the top.
Whatever this meeting-of-worlds shoot was about, it is brilliant.
