The color balance on this set is just enough spring-fun to work for me.
The editor pant is dressy, the leg shape designed to go with dress shoes (or boots). The pink blouse keeps the red suspenders from being too on-the-nose with the newsroom casual of slacks, shirtsleeves, straps.
Girls, we can bring classy back. Whaddaya say? It can even be fun!
I don’t wear them myself, but I’m fond of straw hats rather suddenly—the spate of fedoras and newsie or cabbie caps make it both not seem out of place, but also seem a little offbeat.
Polo shirts and khaki shorts are the summer-weight casual suit, to me, too. This is a kind of simple example, but that’s the point—simple. Classic.
To make it *style*, this adds a hat and Lennon shades, a leather cuff and canvas shoes.

The simplicity of the suit’s cut and combination undercuts the bold color of the actual material.
Fantastic, classy look, utilizing the flashy feature inherent in the clothes to make it fashion: the color choice.

Particularly love that the burgundy suspenders pick up the pattern of the kind of faint plaid, and that the whole set has a hand-made vintage fabric feel to it. THe trousers aren’t jeans, though in the denim family.
The leather suspenders are an intriguing, stand-out design: definitely framing the man’s shoulder breadth and muscular build.
Also, these are the first guys to make cropped-length trousers make sense to me. You’ve got to have a soul vibe… (sorry, Lee Min-Ho.)

Awesome set. Always loved suspenders/braces.
I love the clash of breezy and punk in this image.
(When I say punk, I really just mean what I consider hard-core, blatantly cool.)
The leather-pant look with black heels is dominatrix, and the top is the light blue denimed blouse with a white jacket, so spring-light. The bright blue nail polish actually hints that it’s no accident there is a little biker in the mix here.
And don’t get me started on the setting and composition of this photograph, I could just go on…
This is such a great look, a *workable* look, that’s pulled together by the accessory. A trick I love. The mustard tee and navy don’t clash, but they don’t really play jazz together, either, without the ship’s wheel necklace giving it a jaunty nautical note.
The leather bag, though handsome, is just gravy.
It’s a pretty carefully composed outfit, but it also looks like its part of a base style that is easily changed up with just a different shirt and accessories. A favorite coat that adds a dash of good-bearing to any get-up.
And I also like that those shoes look comfortable. The treacherous-looking things people put their toes into…
Adore this crossover—it’s both a bit cheeky steampunk without going over into costume, and just adorable.
The textures on everything are gorgeous, and the stripes take it all the way from nod-to-dandy style into really seeming a little vintage.
