Jay Park, Will & Jaden Smith at the After Earth red carpet event [13.05.07]

Been a while since I’ve done a red carpet edition!

Jay’s Instagram upload is equally handsome, if a bit more Instagram-y…and I love that on Facebook he said “First time being star-struck, lol” because that actually makes a lot of sense to me.

That is a handsome sucker of a suit jacket he has on, and they look like such a great set together.

I do wonder a bit if Jaden’s being 14 in every picture I’ve seen from their Korea trip so far, or jet-lagged. Not that frowning is particularly a bad look on him…

Hello.
This is the k-drama’s best expressionless man, and k-hiphop’s most expressive man, together, in sleek black suit jackets over jeans.
Can I get an encore clap going?
Those watches look really natural, though the sleeves are clearly arranged to showcase them, too.
Great classic look to the photo, while being actually very city-man casual.

Lovely portrait: totally understated—and still fashionable.
Slot this one under “gorgeous women with swag in old-fashioned clothes”. I love the fusion vibe of this (even though I can’t see a terrible lot of the CLOTHES, an oversight due no doubt to the fact that the character was more central in the shot than her costuming.
*This* is how to wear big prints.

I just watched the stunning Zhang Yimou film “The Flowers of War”- the 1930’s were a fascinating time for fashion in cosmopolitan China as the presence of foreigners influenced hair, makeup, and clothing styles. Here the actress Ni Ni portrays a prostitute from Nanjing, with high arched penciled-in brows and a classic red lip
Sharp dress shirt, with a ballcap?
A total mixed metaphor that resounds in this photo. It’s great. It has the right balance to make sure it’s fun, not just hip-hop or just formal.
What is that earring, though? It’s a little floral for Bang Yong-Guk, I feel, of the Harley-rumble voice and shark-like smile…

The Soompi article on this shoot mentioned his “twee” image, which I think is an unfortunate and inaccurate word, but I can see what they were trying to go for. Maybe a tweedle-dee look, a schoolboy but through a mirror, darkly, look.

The colors are sedate, and maybe that’s why the odd cap and poses have been made to spice it up. As a good accessory should.

This outfit is an example of great drama created by just one piece. In this case, the windbreaker, with it’s cloak-like hood. The details of its buttons and zipper placement back up the impression of it as a kind of avant garde piece…
The rest is a pretty casual get-up. Boots, skinny jeans, sweater with a heathered fiber and simple pattern. The jacket frames the whole thing into something else. I love single garments with that transformative power…
I avoid model-only shots, but this look was so fun I had to put it up.
First, sports cap and sweater, cues of the “collegiate” retro in Western suit fashion right now. The fabric texture is just heathery enough to be delightful, and the rawhide tone shoes and beige jacket pump that up even more.

This jacket, with the kind of fine stripes usually on shirts; I love that inversion.
It also has a casual vibe that fits Heath Ledger—not slouchy, stylish, but paired with jeans and tennis shoes and a polo shirt. More full suits made him look a little tied in, but this jacket is a perfect meeting place of the flattering lines of a suit jacket with less formality.

This is adorable and awesome, as well as exactly the kind of mixed-media suit fashion I find the most exciting. The long-tailed jacket is in a print that makes it dressy, even as it’s a little trendy in shape. The shoes are whimsical, but also dressy. Girlish, but not twee.
And the shorts (or is it a skirt?) and blouse are simple, but interesting enough in the mix here to support the fresh feeling. I’d put the same thing on in a heartbeat.
CN Blue, I love you for bringing a bit of more casual rocker-suit-action into K-Pop. I really do.
Also, Jungshin is going to start his acting career! I have no clue about the drama he’s going to be in, but I take this as a super good sign for my future in k-drama.

I don’t know, I really love the suits with traditional-dress lines to them. The addition of lapels to a jacket with the deeper vee also is really dramatic on a slighter frame.

The asymmetry of the jacket here continues the folded-robe lines. Pairing this suit with sandals is a nice, cheeky continuation of the theme.

These guys have that practical, personal crossover look that appeals to me at a different level than the model-perfect suits.
Not a single piece here is chic, but it all looks right, and fits the image they have as a unit, though each has an individual look, too. My inner American comes out in that last sentence…

Ayano Go—working a large pattern in ojisan colors like it’s the hottest in Shibuya. And at this point, it very well may be.

It’s a little formal, with the yukata-like lines of the coat. The patterned pants. Definitely street-fashion, not just around-the-house loungewear. And I do love the ink-painting traditional art used in an unusual way.

Trying to think of who else could look good in this odd combo is a fun exercise in imagination…

The suspenders-over-shirtsleeves look is perfect for these reed-thin types, because it adds definition to the shirts, gives their lines some pop.
The boots need a little scuffing (which won’t look great: shame to see the patent leather) but I really love the olden days casual—Tom Sawyer looks, where the formal elements are made boyish and airy.
It mixes it up in an interesting way.
