This is a great example of a fashion portrait that is a little sharper than every-day but plays to the strengths of someone’s personal look and features, as well as playing up some contrasts.

The suit is almost cliche’d flower-boy suit—black over white, skinny jean, boots for a little rock-star flair. The androgynous vibe makes that business-as-usual look a little more edgy than its actual contents. Which is awesome.

Fly couple, no?
She’s got great boots, he’s notched his suit up with wide legged trousers. They have a similar color sense and idea of layering, but she’s a bit more chic, he’s a bit more avant garde.
This is actually one of the very few fashion-couple photographs I’ve loved; sometimes it seems too full of effort, or just very similar. These are compatible, but full of separate personalities.

I’m not sure it would be right to add any commentary to this. So I shall not.

I am getting a crush on Epik High as a group as much as on Tablo as an artist—there’s something awesome about their energy even though they’re becoming mature men. There’s actually something fascinating to me about the way hiphop groups seem to be the best aging artists with crossover to k-pop.

But it’s not a kind of maturing, here, that makes them less handsome, or less stylish. Kind of the opposite, actually…while they don’t necessarily look at home in the baseball jackets with bright varsity spryness, they do look fantastic in black leather variants.

Velvet jacket and bow tie; grungy jeans and military boots.
The flair of this match-up is great. Made even greater by the top-of-the-city rooftop that also meshes art with concrete grit.
This, with that duffel particularly, looks staged, but it’s a *beautiful* combination of pieces. I just couldn’t not show it to you, even though it’s headless.
First, the way the distressing of the jacket and the jeans match is brilliant. Both are fabricated kinds of distressing, but it’s so artful…
I’m coming to understand this designer jeans thing. Also, pairing this outfit with anything but matching leather boots (particularly woodsman variant) would have been missing an opportunity to totally meld rough-and-ready with preppy layering. They know what they’re up to, that’s all I can tell you.

Jiro Wang is one of my more frustrating crushes, because…he’s a boots and ragged jeans and tee shirts kind of guy.

And he’s as hot as a tin roof in them, but I have no reason to post those pictures here…

Leather jacket, though, that’s not pushing it too far, right?

W Magazine, once again taking people I already like, and dressing up my crush so I feel even more strongly about it!

Epik High here is sporting suit looks that range from the current trend of ridiculous couture, to the simple-is-best mix of tees, jackets, and maybe a little leather.

I love how this gets across both the playfulness and yet artistic staying power of this crew. Bravo!

THE INTERVIEW

This is all stylish versions of uniform clothing, but it has that grit to it, still. The antique-color undershirt here makes it—it looks like he’s half-dressed in that certain way.
A much classier, handsome way than your average citizen goes around half-dressed. Take note! This is the way to do it…

Hwayoung looks so adorable in a classy coat, and then leggings with boots. This is a girly take on suit looks that is yet also totally tomboy.
Love the properly suited gent as a proper illustration of the inspiration here, too…
A dress shirt that would look fantastic under a jacket, since it has some pleating, but also has enough definition to look great just paired with jeans and some nice boots.
I like that these are chic, light boots. Not military or biker style, just boots of a style to look good with a whole range of outfits.

Daniel Craig.
I’m pretty sure this is an ancient photograph, but it is also a great one, so.
The layers on this thing! I mean, the tie-dyed leggings (? or jeans ?) aren’t really obvious at first, except as a base for the clashing knits and plaid to all tie together—in a chaotic-manga-hero-front-illustration sort of a way. Like someone got carried away with the power of their texture-fill kit.
The sweater, in this context looking mild-mannered, is actually very handsome—a restrained but technical knit. The jacket, though slung carelessly across his shoulders, has a tailored, double-buttoned look that would be stunning all done up.
Of course, combat boots. The rest of this would not make sense if that and the tie didn’t match. In some…inexplicable sense.
This outfit actually makes a lot of sense, though the elements wouldn’t seem to co-ordinate: a polo with a big flower splashed on the side. A slacks-and-jacket combo with zippers to keep them from suit credibility.
And hiking boots.
But like many good weird combinations, the boots ground it. Yes, it’s a little bit irreverent, but it looks sharp, in it’s own relaxed way, and the floral blouse actually makes the rest look more sensible.
…this may be the first time I’ve blogged Seungri as a single. There is nothing some interesting boots will not overcome…

Ahhh, Junsu. Ever more handsome. A little vogue drama never does him wrong, either, as the interesting cowl lines of the jacket lapel only draw him out. I mean, the French-country tones brick doesn’t hurt either, but that’s not a part of an outfit you can bring with you.

One thing I appreciate about Junsu’s style is his dedication to not wearing stupid shoes. He keeps it grounded with pop-appropriate boots and so on. He doesn’t have the build for that.

Skinny jean, yes. Skinny-toe shoe, no.
