Keaton.

So petite, and yet such force of personality! You can tell he’s not really resting, here. I’m not sure he was the napping type.
There’s a hilarious full movie of his on YouTube, by the way, “Scarecrow”, and if you need a cheer-up, I recommend you give it a look-see. The bits with the girl are dull at first, but then there’s weddings on the literal fly and it’s worth it.
I like a closer fit in modern coats, but this is a handsome ensemble, from the shoe to the suitcase to the shades in his hand.
I like to post older style photos as inspiration for the basics. That luggage looks great! I think that profile should come back for bags besides purses…

Heavier weight of oxford fits with the work-a-day denim. The light, pointed dress shoe play against that yet again. Sean Connery is a man’s man, but he’s also a movie star…
Great portrait, from expression, to choice of locale.

I’m not sure if this girl is being a miko at a shrine, or just dressed in traditional work-clothes (the rough texture of the outer robe suggests labor and traditional methods) but the dynamic of the photo is great.*
Her hair isn’t formal, but the pull-rope of the shrine is so distinctive I know she must be involved in something festive, maybe doing her “Bon” or New Years shrine-going after participating in a parade.
I particularly love seeing the tied-back sleeves, which you might recognize if you’ve ever seen Spirited Away—Chihiro does the same thing.

*correction sent in: this is from Memoirs of a Geisha. (cool edit!) So it’s historical garb, hence the textile detail, though a modern image.
T.O.P., my main man. Making jodhpurs look like something a person should wear, when usually, they should NOT.
But with tall boots, and a sassy jacket, hey. He’s making it work. Those laced-up sleeves are odd but dynamic. And with those pants, they don’t really stand *out* as odd.

Oguri Shun, and no apologies offered.

This set has been asking for me to post it forever.

Great look of focus, and an odd air of contrasts to the face and the tux foundations here…
I don’t post too many “just enjoy the view” photos where I don’t have much to comment, but lately I’ve been in that style-photos mood, apparently. This is a great little portrait, though!
Gosling has a old fashioned boy-next-door demeanor, or he does in things I’ve seen lately, and it is excellent. Here’s just a little moving-picture for you suit-distraction pleasure today.
A little bit noir, a little bit silver-screen.

Think this is a genuine street-snap—I’m guessing in Asia, not just from the features of the men, but that they’re on their way home in actual suits, with briefcases. After dark.
This has got a lovely air to it, and the focal gent has an awake sort of vibe to him—the fashionable shape of his shoes says his particular suit ensemble is not a duty, it’s a privilege.

Grant, in fashions that are coming back around! In terms of color and combo, not in the cut of the pants. Though I think there are many people who would be grateful for the skinny-leg trou to go back out of style again…
The main thing about Cary Grant is that though he was peerless, he had a sense of humor about him. It gives him a true air of distinguishment that can’t be mimicked in total earnest.
You have to have the ability to, like him, wish *he* was “Cary Grant” on most days…

Can’t go too long without finding amazing portraits of Tom Hiddleston. The Internet loves his at-ease class, with good reason. He can look debonair, playful, or just a shade sinister. Totally classic black suits take on that personality with him.
Also, can we talk about how I want to go to this square, wherever it is, and just loaf around feeling classical?

First of all, let me say, this video is breathtaking. It’s a long single-shot video, in black and white, with minimal choreography as far as dance goes, and that gives it an understated class that matches the unified, but personalized black suits.

Love this photo—because it’s such high quality as a photograph it’s sheerly style that indicates it’s from another era. Some of the boys have well-tailored suits and some don’t. The girls all have hair ornaments and similar dress-shapes but the expressions are just teen girl faces.
I like the patterns that were in for the guys’ suits, though the straight (square) shaped sleeve isn’t a favorite. Still, what a lovely time-capsule of the way things were for kids having fun! And in my very own town…

Just sharp. Gosling’s got a certain good-old-boy vibe to his face, and so buttoned-up formal just draws him out.
Love the linen-y texture (of course) and like this tie in the context of being the biggest splash, though totally conservative in pattern.

Black and White. Behind the scene working shots. Basically, the tenuous connection go the theme with this blog is cancelled out by that awesome.

I also pretty much blog sexy shots involving sweaters here by default, and there are some very nice examples of THOSE.

(cute, also, how they have that slight nervous formal look of newer idols.)
