One of the more intriguing sub-trends I’m seeing in Eastern fashion is their own incarnation of the indie-retro look. Since they don’t have the same vintage to draw from, it has a distinct enough look I didn’t realize that’s what they were doing.
Here, the intentional-tacky print of the lower left jacket, the dated brown of the slacks with it, are the kind of 70s revival that draws on their own fashion history. And in the context of the other outfits (the pretty blue jacket actually covers a similarly printed blouse, with that inexplicably nice gingham tie) it actually…well, I’m not going to say I love it.
I love that they went there, though. Also, Jing Boran is clearly one of the type of men the side-parted hair was designed for. He looks just fine.
